Going Wireless

Everything is going wireless including our electricity. It is finally a possibility that along with cell phones and laptops Instead of wires energy will just be transferred from one object to another.

All unused energy will reabsorb back to the source. The source may run up to about 5 meters long. The energy will come from high voltage that will then turn into vibration. This isn't the first time we've heard about getting energy from other places. Solar panels absorb their energy from the sun.

The transfer of energy will be tunneled to prevent accidental transfer. Rigorous testing will occur before attempt to mainstream wireless electricity. Who knows maybe we won't have those cord.

Our future Our computers Our jobs

Supercomputers have always been around. IBM has come up with a supercomputer like no other. It will cut down the time it takes to do any human job. The petaflop can operate at speeds up to trillions per second. What is this petaflop a measurement of the capacity of storage along with memory. Basically the speed in which calculations can be made.

Supercomputers are mostly used for security and to help the world compete globally with technology. Computer have come so far in my time. Fifty years from now they feel PC's will have the just as much memory.

It is also said that with billion of people armed with calculators it with take them decades to accomplish a supercomputer days work. "Employees and management see the performance review as a neccesary evil." (Performance Reviews are a Endangered Species) IBM is relesesing the Sequoia Supercomputer later this year.

Is seeing believing

It is a terrible thing to loose your eyesight. Researchers have come up with a new technology that could replenish sight of some. One of which would use a silicon type camera that would serve as the retina. Since the device will interact with the optic nerve it has electronic functions. The silicon gives the camera capability to move similar to the eye. The optoelectronic sensors have the control of amount of light received.

One of the other ideas researcher are working on is called the bionic eye. With this one wires are used in trying to revitalize the optic nerve. Just like the other one it would also use a camera to capture images. The images will be caught by a chip behind the eyeball and sent to the brain. Protection such as eye wear is needed to ensure the 10 yr. life expectancy of the eye is met.

Another similarity of both the bionic eye and the silicon camera type neither can be used if you have glaucoma. Although it can be used if your optic nerve has been semi functional in some cases. Even if your brain can remember how to see doesn't mean you'll be able to see again. It is possible we may not know what the future holds.

Remember Me

Remember Me is a automated telephone service that American Airlines is implementing to promote better customer service. They say this was not meant to deplete jobs. In other words they feel a computer can interact with a potential customer and treat them better than a real person.

Sure the computers can automatically detect that this person as called before and even notably acknowledge routine. How many people actually enjoy talking to computers. A voice recognition system will be set up but, will that be full proof. How many of us have gotten frustrated with these systems.

Yes this may cut down on the number of calls an actual person would have to take. It may also cut down on the number of individuals they need. All of this was done to save money for the airline. Will this also cut employees time partially or completely out.

The American Airlines out of Fort Worth insist this is a speeder process don't beleive me read it yourself http://www.startribune.com/science/39164372.html. Ever thought a computer could do your job.

Tag you're it!

Geotagging is the process of putting location specific geographical identification into pictures, videos and even websites. The information is put in GPS format. Which would include our phones and navigation systems.
Global Positioning System (GPS) is a part of a navigational satellite developed by the Department of Defense. However this does not make us safer. Personal information is uploaded everyday and most of us are unaware that it is being tagged. Geotagging alerts may sometimes appear to warn you. As with any technology the risk of exploitation is present.
Geotagging is not all bad when it is used correctly. In the wrong hands anything go from good to bad. If you happen to be a parent and would like to keep up with your child is doing it is great. If you are just somebody who wouldn't like to share everything you are doing with the world you're in trouble. However you should ask about software and media you buy to see if geotagging is enabled. As they always say buyer BEWARE!
Here is a link about one personal journey with geotagging http://news.cnet.com/8301-13580_3-9784487-39.html. The article is called "My geotagging trials, travails and triumphs".
